The Velvet Moto Jacket: The Piece Of The Season

Where are my fellow velvet lovers at? This post’s for you.

The velvet trend has shown no signs of slowing, and I couldn’t be more pumped about it! It’s a fabric that can be dressed up or down, either through booties or a pleated midi skirt. I came across this killer jacket right before I left for Moab, and was pumped to take a more casual option with me for the cooler nights out in town with the guys. If you’re looking to step up your game from the traditional black leather moto jacket, this is it. Another cool fact? It’s under $50 and comes in multiple colors.

While I usually invest in quality pieces for outerwear and shoes, I like to add a few trendy and more affordable pieces to my wardrobe each season to keep it stylish. Statement outerwear is number one on my list for winter. If you’re looking for longevity, the moto jacket is an iconic style, making it easy to style season after season. Add crushed velvet to it? You now have the piece of the season!

I’ve also had so much fun styling my Fenty Puma Ankle Strap Cleated Creepers with everything from jeans shorts to jersey dresses this summer. They’re still my number one shoe staple this fall and winter, and pair perfectly with jeans or a wool pencil skirt and a chunky sweater. Can you believe I also took them to Moab and HIKED in them? Moab is known for its fine red clay dust, and these sneakers not only held up to it, they wiped clean as soon as I got home. How’s that for versatility? There is such a thing as doing active things in style, and I’m here to help you find those pieces to do so.

Why Fenty x Puma Speaks To My Soul

It comes as a great honor to showcase one of my favorite new icons to the fashion world, Rihanna’s Fenty collaboration with Puma. One of the things I admire most about Rihanna is her “give no fucks” attitude about everything, from her music to her view on fashion. She’s a down ass bitch who’s unafraid of speculation and does things from the heart. I roll to a similar vibe.

Urban gothic streetwear inspires me to be creative in an understated way: finding the beauty in the details of things. The vast majority of my wardrobe is monochrome and unpatterned, always for a reason: there’s always room for details. I live for statement jewelry and bold makeup statements, and for this week’s post, in head to toe Fenty. From the designs of the pieces to the carefully selected features of the beauty products, it’s all understated, leaving room for you to make it your own.

The details I chose for this outfit included this KILLER feather collar found at a local San Francisco boutique on Valencia, Thread Lounge. If you’ve never stepped foot in here, holy OMG! There’s everything from cute accessories for your home like rugs, statement pillows, and lots of boho-chic clothing. It paired SO well with my Fenty dress, and I can’t wait to throw it into the mix for my upcoming evening events for the holidays. Since the dress is a little baggy, I opted to wear my favorite swimsuit of all time, the Agent Provocateur Mazzy one piece. It gave it a nice pop of neon color to an otherwise monochrome look, tying in my statement shoes perfectly!

The soft details of the lace adorned ends were my favorite detail of all. The lace is made of technical material, which makes it an absolute dream to wear. Not only was I comfortable as hell during New York Fashion Week this year, I felt more than ever, myself. I let my details run wild, and it was liberating.

If you try nothing at all from her line, look no further than last season’s kimono dress. It’s simple enough for daily wear, but totally worthy of a round out at Fashion Week, from the shows to cocktail hour. The upcoming season is finally available to shop, check the whole collection here!

Fenty x Puma: Urban Gothic Meets Athleisure

I’d been dying to snag a few pieces from Rihanna’s Fenty x PUMA line, as there’s nothing out there in the athleisure space that speaks to me more. Known for her avant-garde and often provocative sense of style, she’s created an athleisure collaboration that is just that: unapologetically fashion forward.

It’s been nearly a year since the collection first hit the catwalks of New York Fashion Week, and a little over a month since the collection hit retailers, and as soon as my haul arrived, I was hooked! Rihanna’s dark, urban gothic style is very similar to my own, so the blend of it with current athleisure trends was a match made in heaven.

Out of all the items in the current release, I was drawn to the Kimono the most. My other affinity when it comes to personal style tends to be inspired by Japanese trends (hello nail art!), so naturally, it’s bold shape and characters were a total draw. I’m a track jacket junkie, so it’s seamless blend of track and kimono was also a mega sell.

This jacket goes from the studio right to the street, and can even be paired with a night out ensemble. I wore it to a special event with bumble&Bumble last weekend, and it was a huge hit! Additionally, stay tuned as well for an exciting collab with bumble&Bumble, my favorite wash and wear hair product line! I’ll be sharing my product lineup/how to’s on how my hair stays so perfectly styled with one or less wash a week (these photos are a whole week!).

Also of note is my FAVE T-shirt of all time: the Express One Eleven V-Neck Tunic Tee. It’s also on sale for less than $30, so snag one now! It’s incredibly soft, versatile, and flattering on every body type. I have one in nearly every color, and take a size small.
