There’s nothing I love more about fashion than being able to bring different pieces together to create something completely unique. It’s one thing to see something beautiful in a magazine, but it’s even more special to see it come to life through someone else’s eyes. It’s how I fell in love with blogging years ago: seeing pieces paired together by others creatively, each sharing their own story and style. Fun fact: Julia Engel’s Gal Meets Glam was one of the first blogs I began reading back in the day. Her storytelling in addition to beautiful outfits was what I loved most. Each blog post was a peek inside her love of dressing up, and a story behind why it was special to her. I can totally relate. You’re probably wondering how and why her content relates to my own style. To the naked eye, you’re right, our styles appear quite polar. However, here’s why they’re not so far off.
Regardless of personal style, I truly believe everyone wants to look and feel their best. No matter what kind of style you consider yourself to be, there’s always a little something that we add in to feel a touch more glamorous or feminine. My little somethings are dresses: they’re an easy way to feel polished. When I’m not in streetwear, you can often find me in a dress. They’re just so easy to wear and style! Hell, you can usually find me in a dress that’s sporty too, let’s be serious: kudos to Lululemon Lab back in 2009 for introducing me to my first “streetwear” dresses!
When news broke that Julia would be creating her own dresses, I couldn’t wait to see what was in store! What’s even cooler, is that it comes in sizes 2 through 20, and there’s a style for everybody, even me. While you will rarely find me in a floral, you will find me in solids and luxe fabrics. The Gal Meets Glam Collection is every bit girly and glamorous just like what I love about Julia, and I’m excited to bring it into the mix of my own wardrobe. I chose the Pearly Trim Fit & Flare Dress, and couldn’t love it more.
